Kana Hanazawa

I can pick Kana Hanazawa's voice out of a lineup in about half a second, and I'm not even sorry about it. There's this clear, gentle quality to it that's instantly hers, the kind of voice that makes a character feel like a real soft-hearted person rather than a drawing. What gets me is that she came up as a child actor and quietly built into one of anime's most recognizable performers without ever losing that easygoing warmth. She also sings, and her music has a dreamy, lived-in charm that fits her perfectly. That 2015 supporting-actress win at the Seiyu Awards is the tell that she's not coasting on a cute tone, she's actually acting. Tokyo born and raised, yet she carries this slightly otherworldly calm, and honestly I just hope she never changes.
