Cedric the Entertainer

What strikes me about Cedric the Entertainer is the sheer audacity of building an entire identity around the promise to entertain, and then actually delivering on it for decades. From Jefferson City, Missouri, to a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he embodies the comedian who refuses to be boxed in, moving fluidly between stand-up, film, television, voice work and directing. I love performers who own a room the instant they walk in, and he has that warm, unhurried command. There is something deeply generous about a career devoted to making people laugh, and he wears it without a trace of ego.
