My Take

Chaiya Mitchai intrigues me precisely because he works in a world far from the spotlight I usually cover. As a luk thung singer who also performs in likay folk theater and drama, he carries Thailand's popular musical and stage traditions on his back, and that earns my respect. Luk thung is the heartbeat music of everyday Thai life, and an artist who voices it is doing more than entertaining.
