My Take

Chiwetel Ejiofor is my favorite kind of actor: one who treats restraint as a weapon. Trained on the British stage and decorated with an Olivier and a BAFTA, he never begs for attention; he lets stillness accumulate until a single look carries the weight of a monologue. That control is why he elevates everything from blockbuster spectacle to intimate drama, and why filmmakers trust him with morally complicated men. Add his parallel work as a writer and director, and you get an artist thinking about the whole story rather than just his part in it. I would put his dignity on screen against anyone working today.
