My Take
For my generation, Chris Owen will forever be the Sherminator. That American Pie running gag, played straight across four films from 1999 to 2012, is the kind of role that both makes and boxes in a young actor, and I've always had a soft spot for performers who fully commit to being the lovable loser. Born in Michigan in 1980, he also worked the National Lampoon circuit, including a co-lead in Gold Diggers. I find his career a useful reminder that a single indelible character can outlast a hundred forgettable leads, even if it means people only ever shout one nickname at you.
