My Take

Discovering that Christopher Franke was a member of Tangerine Dream gave me genuine chills. The pioneers of early electronic music had to tame their instruments from scratch, and that fearlessness echoes through his later film work, including the sweeping score for Babylon 5. What I admire most is that he is also a recording engineer, fluent in both creating sound and capturing it; music made by someone who knows both sides carries a special conviction. Born in 1953 and still running a studio under his own name, he strikes me as a quiet seeker of sound, and I am quietly devoted to that craft.
