Marie Schölzel

At 190 centimeters, Marie Schölzel already commands the net, but height alone never explains a national-team career. Born in Berlin in 1997 and capped for Germany since 2015, she's spent her prime years at a serious club in Schwerin, grinding through the unglamorous repetition that elite volleyball demands. I find myself drawn to athletes like her, who reach the international stage young and then keep showing up rather than coasting. She started volleyball at eight in Berlin and won national youth titles along the way, and honestly that fits the image: a player who lets the work speak. I hope she keeps jumping, healthy, for years.
