My Take
Chubby Checker did something most artists never manage: he changed how ordinary people move their bodies. With The Twist in 1960 he liberated dancers from partnered formality and told the world it was fine to get up and shake on your own. That cultural shift, doubled down with Let's Twist Again, outlasts any single chart position. To me he's less a singer than an inventor of social freedom, the man who turned a dance floor into a place for individual joy. Whenever I hear his music at a party decades later, I'm reminded how rare it is to genuinely move the culture.
