My Take

For rugby fans the Fainga'a name conjures the whole brotherhood, and Colby is very much cut from that hard-working forward cloth. Out of Queanbeyan in New South Wales and shaped at St Edmund's College in Canberra, he now grinds it out for Lyon in France's Top 14. What I like is the willingness to cross the world and test himself in one of the toughest, most physical leagues going. A southern-hemisphere product diving into the trench warfare of French rugby needs real conviction. As one member of a family that bet its whole life on the sport, he is the kind of unglamorous, team-first player I always find easy to admire.
