Dallas Goedert

Dallas Goedert is the kind of player I instinctively root for. Born in Aberdeen, he came out of Britton-Hecla High School in South Dakota, played at South Dakota State rather than a powerhouse program, and still clawed his way to becoming a starting tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles after a second-round selection. At 196 cm he has the frame, but it is the small-school grit and the unglamorous work, the blocking and the clutch catches, that win me over. While first-round names grab headlines, Goedert just keeps doing the quiet, demanding job. I trust players like that more than I trust the hype.
