Damian Marley

Being Bob Marley's youngest son is a blessing and a curse, and what impresses me about Damian is how he refused to simply replay his father's legacy. Instead of coasting on reggae nostalgia, he fused dancehall and hip-hop into something genuinely his own, and four Grammys say the world agreed. The children of legends usually get crushed by comparison, but Damian stands tall right next to it. There's a warmth and rootedness in his Kingston-bred sound that feels honest rather than performed. I respect artists who inherit a giant shadow and still manage to cast one of their own.
