Dave Kushner

Dave Kushner is the kind of musician I instinctively root for: the rhythm guitarist holding the whole thing together. As the backbone of Velvet Revolver and a fixture of the Los Angeles rock scene with ties to Jane's Addiction and Danzig, he has spent his career in the indispensable but unglamorous role. Lead players get the solos, but without someone locking the groove, the songs collapse. I love that unsung craft, and his Fairfax High roots and deep web of collaborations mark him as a true scene veteran. There is real dignity in choosing the supporting role and mastering it.
