My Take

David Fincher is, to my mind, the great perfectionist of modern cinema, and I mean that as the highest compliment. From Seven to The Social Network, every frame feels engineered and every cut intentional; he proves that obsessive precision can produce work that feels alive rather than sterile. What I admire most is his recovery from the Alien 3 ordeal: instead of breaking him, the experience forged a director who never again surrendered his vision. His move into streaming with House of Cards reshaped television's ambitions too. The 2023 Honorary Cesar felt overdue, since he has been operating at master level for decades.
