David Gauke

David Gauke reads, to me, as a politician of conscience. A solicitor turned MP who rose to become Justice Secretary and Lord Chancellor under Theresa May, he is best remembered not for the size of the office but for refusing to bend his principles when the political winds shifted hard. That kind of steadiness is rare and undervalued. Now working as a commentator, he brings the credibility of someone who governed from the inside rather than merely opining from the outside. The combination of a lawyer's coolness and a politician's nerve makes him a figure I find quietly compelling.
