My Take
David Yow is a one-of-a-kind force, and I love him for it. As the vocalist of Scratch Acid and the Jesus Lizard, he became a noise-rock legend. What fascinates me is the second act: a 2013 solo album, then a turn toward film acting. He never sanded down his edges with age, keeping equal parts menace and mischief in hand. I find genuine encouragement in artists who refuse to be boxed in, and Yow's stubborn, unruly freedom is exactly the kind of life that reminds you originality outlasts polish.
