Desiigner

I'll defend Desiigner more than most. Scoring a number-one Billboard hit with Panda before he was twenty, then getting scooped up by Kanye West's GOOD Music, is a Cinderella rise that few rappers ever touch. His slurred, growling delivery split listeners, but to me it captured a real moment: the way Atlanta-born trap had fully colonized the sound of young New York. People love to file him under one-hit wonder, yet stamping that much raw energy onto the culture as a Brooklyn teenager is genuinely impressive. I have a weakness for artists who burn bright and brief, lighting up an instant with everything they have.
