Despina Olympiou

Despina Olympiou draws me in simply by being a singer from the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. She is a genuine talent, beloved in both Cyprus and Greece, and in 2013 she represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo. Carrying a nation's pride onto a continent-wide stage is no small feat, and she also has Instagram and X accounts. Artists who pour the soul of their homeland into song are exactly the kind I cherish.
