My Take

Donald Glover might be the most complete creative talent of his generation, and I do not say that lightly. Hired to write for 30 Rock at twenty-three, he could have settled into a comfortable comedy-writer career; instead he became an Emmy-winning auteur with Atlanta, a Grammy-winning musician as Childish Gambino, and a blockbuster actor from The Martian to Solo. What strikes me is that none of these feel like side hustles — each lane gets a fully formed artistic voice. Born on an Air Force base, he seems constitutionally incapable of staying still. Whatever he does next, I am watching.
