My Take
Doug Jones is my favorite kind of actor: the one you have watched dozens of times without ever seeing his face. Buried under latex as del Toro's faun, the Pale Man, or the Amphibian Man, he performs with his whole body, fusing menace and tenderness in a way few unmasked stars manage. His background as a contortionist and mime explains the eerie grace, but the artistry is all his own. I deeply respect performers who pour everything into roles that erase their identity, and Jones is the quiet master of that craft.
