Douglas Alexander

Douglas Alexander strikes me as the kind of political operator history quietly relies on. A Glasgow-born, Edinburgh-educated Labour figure, he served as Secretary of State for Scotland back in 2006, stepped away, then returned to Parliament in 2024 and to the same office in 2025. That comeback is what I find most telling. Politics chews people up, yet he kept his footing and came back to do the work. He's never been the flashiest name, but I value the durable, administrative type who actually keeps government running. His resilience earns a quiet, genuine respect from me.
