My Take

Drake Maverick is one of those performers I find quietly brilliant. Born James Curtin in Birmingham, England in 1983, he raised hell as Rockstar Spud in TNA, then reinvented himself in WWE as a character who could make a crowd laugh or ache, and now works behind the scenes as a writer for Raw. The move from performer to storyteller is the part that impresses me most; you only pull it off if you understand the business from both sides of the curtain. I love that Aquarian creative restlessness, and a career that pays off twice over deserves real applause.
