Edmundo

They called him O Animal, and few nicknames have ever fit a footballer so completely. Edmundo was that rare forward whose genius and volatility were inseparable; the same fire that produced moments of pure brilliance also produced the controversies that followed him on and off the pitch. I have a real soft spot for players like this. The well-behaved professional is easy to respect and easy to forget, but the gifted hothead keeps you on the edge of your seat. That he reinvented himself as a pundit, turning all that intensity into words, feels like the most honest second act he could have chosen.
