My Take
Edward Norton has always struck me as the rare actor whose intelligence works for the character rather than against it. In American History X and Fight Club he didn't just play damaged men — he mapped their logic from the inside, which is far harder. I suspect his reputation for clashing on set comes from the same place as his best performances: an inability to leave a story half-solved. That he also writes, directs, and produces only confirms it. Some stars chase charisma; Norton chases coherence, and I find that far more interesting to watch.
