My Take
Ellie Taylor is, to my eye, one of British comedy's great survivors, and I mean that as high praise. Panel shows are a brutal ecosystem: you must be funny on demand, in seconds, against the room. That she kept getting invited back to Mock the Week and The Mash Report for years tells me her wit is structural, not lucky. Add presenting, acting in Plebs, and gamely throwing herself into Strictly Come Dancing, and you get a performer who treats versatility as a craft. I suspect the Essex-honed everywoman persona hides a ferociously disciplined writer. She makes a very hard job look easy, which is the whole trick.
