My Take
Eric "Badlands" Booker earns my honest admiration. Holding seven Major League Eating world records and competing in the Nathan's Hot Dog contest every year from 1997 to 2018 takes a stubbornness most of us can't imagine. But what I really enjoy is that he never stayed in one lane: he raps, he runs a YouTube channel, he keeps creating well beyond the competitive table. To me that restless, multi-hat energy is pure New York. I respect athletes of any discipline, and competitive eating is far harder than outsiders assume. Booker turned an odd niche into a genuine, lasting body of work.
