My Take

Ewen Bremner is one of those actors who could steal a scene from anyone without uttering a single word — the guy is pure kinetic energy. I fell for him hard as Spud in Trainspotting, that lovable, chaotic disaster of a human being, and then he brought the same character back for T2 twenty years later and somehow made it even more heartbreaking. Edinburgh clearly does something to its sons. Beyond Trainspotting, his turn in Black Hawk Down showed he has real dramatic range — not just the twitchy comic stuff. He keeps popping up in big films quietly doing excellent work, never quite getting the lead-actor headlines he probably deserves, but honestly that might suit the man just fine.
