My Take
Miller is one of the most naturally gifted screen presences of their generation, which is exactly what makes the story so frustrating. The performance in We Need to Talk About Kevin remains genuinely chilling — an unreadable, magnetic menace most actors twice their age couldn't manage — while The Perks of Being a Wallflower showed warmth and vulnerability in equal measure. Add an opera-trained voice and you have a true original. The off-screen turbulence of recent years has overshadowed all of that, and I won't pretend otherwise. But raw talent like this rarely appears, and part of me still hopes the next chapter is about the work.
