Faith Evans

What draws me to Faith Evans is the grit underneath the gloss. Moving to Los Angeles around twenty to chase a record deal, then becoming Bad Boy Records' first female signing, is the sort of bet that only pays off with real talent and nerve. I respect that she is not just a vocalist but a songwriter, composer, model, and actress, a genuine multi-hyphenate from a brutally competitive era of R&B and hip-hop. She lived through the loud center of that scene, yet warmth still survives in her voice. For me, that lived-in quality is exactly what makes her music feel trustworthy and lasting.
