My Take
What draws me to Fish Liew is her trajectory as a crosser of borders. Born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, she built a career in Hong Kong cinema and won Best Supporting Actress for Anita and Best Actress for Someone Like Me. Thriving as an outsider in a fiercely competitive film industry takes real grit, not just talent. I admire performers who earn their place far from home, and her dual Hong Kong Film Award wins suggest a range that goes well beyond a pretty face. I'm genuinely curious to watch where her career heads next.
