FKA twigs strikes me as one of the few artists who genuinely earns the word avant-garde. Starting out as a backup dancer and then releasing LP1 to a Mercury Prize nomination, she built a world where singing, choreography, and production are inseparable parts of a single body of expression. Her music asks for patience — it floats, fractures, and refuses easy hooks — and I will admit it confused me at first. But that is exactly why I keep returning to it.
