My Take

Ahmetcan Kaplan is exactly the kind of young defender I find quietly compelling. Born in 2003 on Turkey's Black Sea coast in Trabzon, he is now serving his apprenticeship at NEC in the Dutch Eredivisie, on loan from Ajax. That path tells me a lot: rather than staying comfortable at home, he chose to be tested in one of Europe's most technical leagues.
