My Take
Sir George Zambellas fascinates me because his story bridges the cockpit and the command deck. He began as a Royal Navy helicopter pilot, flying with multiple air squadrons, then climbed all the way to First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff. That arc, from hands-on aviator to the top of an entire navy, is rare and tells you he understood the service from the ground up. The honours pile up impressively, a Knight Grand Cross of the Bath, the Distinguished Service Cross, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, but what earns my admiration is the breadth. A leader who has genuinely done the dangerous work commands a different kind of loyalty.
