Gerardo Martino

Gerardo "Tata" Martino earns my respect first as a one-club loyalist, holding the appearance record at Newell's Old Boys with 505 official matches. That kind of devotion is increasingly rare in modern football. As a coach he became a true journeyman, leading clubs and national teams across the Americas, which tells me he carries both deep local roots and a global outlook. I'm drawn to figures who balance hometown attachment with the courage to test themselves everywhere. Whatever the results, Martino's career reads as that of a man wholly committed to the game.
