Goran Dragić

Goran Dragic is one of those players I genuinely root for. Nicknamed the Dragon, he climbed from Slovenia and Spain into the NBA the hard way, then won Most Improved Player in 2014 and led tiny Slovenia to the 2017 EuroBasket title as MVP. That national-pride dimension is what moves me most. He bounced across Phoenix, Miami, Houston, Toronto, Brooklyn, Chicago and Milwaukee, a craftsman guard who reinvented himself wherever he landed. I respect players who carry a small country on their back and never make it look like a burden.
