Gülnezer Bextiyar

Gülnezer Bextiyar — or Nazha as most people know her — is genuinely one of the more fascinating faces to come out of Chinese entertainment in the 2010s, and I think the reason is pretty obvious: she carries this effortlessly striking, borderline otherworldly look that traces right back to her Uyghur heritage and Ürümqi roots. A Beijing Film Academy graduate who broke into mainstream Chinese drama and film, she's not just coasting on her appearance — there's a real craft there that she honed through proper training. Watching her navigate the intense pressure-cooker world of Chinese celebrity, where scrutiny is relentless and the audience is enormous, and still maintain a genuine presence rather than a manufactured one, is kind of impressive. I'm rooting for her to keep pushing into more ambitious roles.
