Gus Poyet

Gus Poyet strikes me as one of football's quietly compelling lifers. A tall, intelligent Uruguayan midfielder turned globe-trotting manager, he has carried his playing instincts into the dugout, most recently in the Saudi Pro League. What I admire is the restless commitment: from River Plate beginnings to the English game and beyond, he keeps chasing the work rather than the comfort. There's a particular Uruguayan steel to him, competitive but composed, and managers who genuinely understand a player's mind tend to age well in this brutal profession. I'd happily watch any team he builds.
