Hardy fascinates me because he refuses to stay in one lane. A kid from Philadelphia, Mississippi who studied in Tennessee, he writes hits for country giants like Morgan Wallen and Blake Shelton, then turns around and laces his own records with metal, punk, soul, and hip hop. That songwriter-first foundation gives his loud, genre-mashing sound a craftsman's spine, which is exactly why it works.
