Haru

I'll be honest, the single-character name threw me at first, but Haru earns that minimalism. She came up as a fashion model, so I half-expected the glossy magazine-cover poise and nothing underneath, and then she'd slip into a role and suddenly there's this cool, shadowed thing flickering behind her eyes that I did not see coming. That's the trick I keep falling for: she looks serene, almost unreadable, and then a whole inner life leaks out through a held gaze. Tokyo girl from Adachi, but there's something breezy and slightly remote about her that reads as mystery rather than aloofness. I love that she's built her acting credibility quietly, picking up that newcomer award and just steadily getting better instead of chasing headlines. Honestly, I want to see that restrained, watchful face stretched across way more kinds of characters.
