My Take
What I admire most about Imelda Staunton is her refusal to coast on glamour. She is a craftsman first, forged in repertory theatre and West End musicals before the cameras ever found her. Vera Drake proved she could carry the moral weight of an entire film with a quiet, devastating face, while her Olivier-winning singing shows a range most actors only dream of. A Dame of the British Empire who somehow wears zero arrogance, she is the kind of performer I trust completely. Give her any role, large or small, and she will out-think and out-feel everyone around her.
