My Take
Jason Beghe wins me over with that unmistakable gravel-voiced presence. A New Yorker and Pomona College alum, he has carried NBC's Chicago P.D. as Hank Voight since 2014, but his roots run deeper, from Romero's Monkey Shines to playing opposite Demi Moore. That famously rough rasp, reportedly the legacy of a vocal injury, turned into a signature rather than a setback. I am drawn less to flash than to actors who accumulate weight over decades of steady work, and Beghe is exactly that: a craftsman whose grit reads as lived experience. The character-actor backbone of any good ensemble.
