My Take

There is something poignant about a child star who grows into a whole life. Jon Provost was Timmy on Lassie, the boy a generation grew up beside, and what strikes me is how gracefully he carried that early fame rather than being crushed by it. A Hollywood Walk of Fame star is rarely given to a flash in the pan. I admire that he still keeps an official site and stays connected to the people who loved that show. The boy-and-his-dog story is simple, but it lodged itself in millions of hearts, and that is no small achievement to have been the center of.
