Jason Butler Harner is one of those actors whose presence raises the tension in any scene, and his FBI agent Roy Petty in Ozark is a masterclass in slow-burn menace. He plays men who are coiled, watchful, and a little broken, which makes him perfect casting for morally murky thrillers. What a lot of viewers don't realize is that he's first and foremost a theater animal, trained classically and seasoned on New York stages, which is why his line readings always feel so precisely calibrated. He never overplays it. Give him a quiet interrogation scene and he'll quietly dismantle whoever's across the table.
