My Take

O'Mara is one of those dependable leading men who has anchored several ambitious but short-lived series, which is almost a genre unto itself. His American detective Sam Tyler in the Life on Mars remake never matched the British original's run, and Terra Nova was a gorgeous gamble that fizzled, yet he was always the most grounded thing on screen. I most admire his DC animated work, where his gravelly, weary Batman voice gives the Caped Crusader a real sense of fatigue and resolve. He is the kind of professional who shows up and delivers regardless of how the show around him fares.

Overview

Jason O'Mara (born August 6, 1972) is an Irish actor born in Sandycove, near Dublin. He is known for leading roles in American television series including the U.S. remake of Life on Mars and Terra Nova, and for his recurring portrayal of Jim Gordon and the voice of Batman across DC animated films. He has also worked as a screenwriter and producer in addition to his stage and screen acting.
