My Take
As a football admirer, I have a soft spot for Jean Tigana. At 168 cm he was never imposing, yet through the 1980s he was rated among the finest midfielders alive, the engine of France's celebrated golden generation alongside Platini. What I love is that he won on intelligence and tireless running rather than physique, a reminder that the game rewards the mind. His later managerial career across France, England, Turkey, and China shows a restless devotion to the sport itself. The 2021 Legion of Honour feels fitting. To me he is proof that quiet, cerebral players can leave the deepest mark.
