My Take

Joe Mazzulla is a coaching story I genuinely admire. A point guard at West Virginia who went undrafted in 2011, he didn't sulk over not making it as a player; he committed to coaching and worked his way up to head coach of the Boston Celtics. That path is harder than it looks, because making yourself great and making others win are entirely different gifts. Turning the sting of going undrafted into a different kind of success says a lot about his character. Watching a young coach lead a storied franchise is one of my quiet pleasures in the sport.
