Joe

Joe is the kind of R&B craftsman I deeply respect: no gimmicks, just a warm, controlled voice and songs built to last. Emerging out of Columbus, Georgia and breaking through with Everything in the early '90s, he settled into his own lane and stayed there while flashier trends came and went. What impresses me is that he writes, produces, and composes his own material, which is exactly why his career has had such staying power; he never needed someone else to define his sound. He's a quiet anchor of grown-up soul, and I think listeners who only chase the charts are missing one of the genre's steadiest hands.
