My Take

John Guidetti is a footballer whose story I find more charming than his stats might suggest. A Swedish striker who grew up partly in Kenya, he earned a teenage move to Manchester City at sixteen, which tells me the talent was real and early. What I like about him is the personality, the grin, the energy, the sense that he genuinely enjoys the game. Careers that wander, as his clearly has, can read as unfulfilled, but I prefer to see a player who kept chasing minutes and stayed himself throughout. There's something endearing about a striker who never lost his joy, even when the goals came in fits and starts.
