My Take

Austin Aries, born Daniel Solwold in Milwaukee, fascinates me as a wrestler who never had size on his side. At 175 cm he is small for the business, yet he carved out a global career on technique, ring intelligence, and a famously sharp mouth. That tells me everything: when you cannot overpower opponents, you out-think and out-talk them. Now wrestling and providing color commentary for Major League Wrestling while holding a championship, he embodies the articulate veteran I always gravitate toward. A Winona State graduate, he wrestles like someone whose mind moves as fast as his feet, and I root for that underdog craft.
