My Take
Jonathan Tropper fascinates me for his range. The Riverdale-born, NYU-educated writer can render the messy tenderness of family, as in This Is Where I Leave You, then pivot to the muscular pulp of Banshee and Warrior. That ability to plate comedy, grief, and bare-knuckle action with equal conviction is rare. I love writers who refuse to be boxed into one register, who can make a Thanksgiving table and a brawl feel equally true. Tropper is a working storyteller in the best sense, and I'd follow his name onto almost any project.
