My Take

Josh Collmenter is exactly the kind of player I gravitate toward. A pitcher out of tiny Homer, Michigan, by way of Central Michigan University, where he was named conference Pitcher of the Year in 2007 before reaching the majors with the Diamondbacks and Braves. He reportedly leaned on a deceptive, unconventional delivery rather than overpowering stuff. What really earns my respect, though, is that he stayed in the game after hanging up his glove, moving into the radio booth as a color commentator. That is the mark of someone who simply loves baseball too much to walk away from it.

Joshua Michael Collmenter (born February 7, 1986) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves between 2011 and 2017, and currently acts as the color man for Diamondbacks Radio. He attended Central Michigan University and was the 2007 Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year.
